Texas is going "Kansas" on your ass

I truly believe that there is evidence against evolution out there. Just look at the non-evolved brain-pans of various members of the Texas School Board.

CNN is reporting that the Texas School Board is going to take a vote that will, in essence, impose their own skepticism of evolution upon all the students in Texas. This (cough cough) erudite group of educators is stating that they simply want to encourage the students to analyze the weak points of every theory, but if this is so, why remove specific wording that was already present in their bylaws that called on science teachers to focus on the "strengths and weaknesses" in all scientific theories. The new focus is on the students to perform the evaluation, leaving the teachers open to censure and restrictions in what they can do/say.

Please understand that I believe that everyone is entitled to their own opinion on evolution. Please also understand that by avoiding any intellectual intercourse regarding this "hot" topic and trying to force others to follow their own beliefs (thinly disguised as skepticism), I reserve the right to verbally taunt you mercilessly, no matter which side of the debate you are on.

The actions of the few members of this school board are reprehensible but what's even worse is the fact that these morons are elected by the good people of Texas. This insanity has toured the country with stops in Alabama, Kansas, Kentucky, Ohio, Florida, Georgia, Louisiana, and Virginia. What say we automatically drop the electoral college votes of any state where any of their school boards vote to ban, restrict or evidence "skepticism" over evolution?

My own view? I espouse the same belief that one of my favorite authors, Piers Anthony, put forth in his Incarnations of Immortality series. I firmly believe that there is no reason that evolution and creationism can't both be true. The bible speaks of "days" of creation. Who's to say that a "day" is 24 hours long? Why can't the bible's "day" represent a tremendously long period? Why can't God have helped things along according to his/her plan with a goal in mind? Why couldn't God have used evolution as his/her tool to achieve their goal? Can't we all just get along?

So wise up people and stop trying to force your view point on anything down our throats.
